Construction procurement

During 2020, work will commence on developing a new water industry standard major projects contract. To lead this task, a working group has been formed including representative from Barwon Water, South East Water, Yarra Valley Water, City West Water, Gippsland Water and Goulburn Valley Water. VicWater will coordinate two monthly meetings of the working group throughout 2020. Separate invitations have been issued for quarterly meetings of the Water Industry’s Construction Procurement Reference Group (which includes all water corporations).

VicWater will also continue to work with DTF to reduce the burden of compliance obligations in the Ministerial Directions. In particular, those relating to:
(1) urban/regional local jobs first thresholds,
(2) scalability of obligations for small contracts within a larger project, and
(3) performance reporting.
