How do we ensure a consistent approach to assessing the performance of algal bloom management technologies, that is fit-for-purpose for the Australian water industry? We’re initiating a project that aims to develop protocols for scientific assessment and trial of algal bloom management technologies. The project approaches include:

• Collection of scientific literature to draft protocols
• Creation of a protocol development group (subject matter experts) to review
• Selection of an independent accessor to validate protocols
• Dissemination of the outcome via publications & factsheets
