Victorian UDIA 2019 – Western Water wins Diversity in Development Industry Award
Western Water are demonstrating they are leaders in workplace diversity and inclusion taking out a Victorian award for Excellence from the Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA). UDIA's Awards for Excellence is a high-profile annual award program to recognise and reward excellence and innovation in the urban development industry.
Western Water’s General Manager, People, Culture and Technology, Bernie Moss, says the organisation’s diverse workforce brings better results for the business and community.
“The diversity policies have improved performance, increased the engagement of the workforce and helped build stronger partnerships with the community and local agencies in the service region,” he said.
One of the key achievements in the past year was Western Water’s development of a Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), which demonstrates their commitment to supporting the national reconciliation movement.
Western Water also facilitates several events throughout the year to celebrate its diverse workforce and community, including Harmony Day, NAIDOC week, RUOK day, IDAHOBIT, Ramadan, and Wear it Purple Day. Western Water also provides flexible working conditions to support neurodiverse talent or staff with disabilities.
Well done Western Water!
